Unicorn!!!

I bought my first pattern the other day from Crafty Intentions, the pegasus pony which also had steps for the horn.  I thought it would be good to learn some new techniques and I did! It came out really nice too.  Well ok, my first one was slightly wonky but I mostly fixed it:

I had created one leg too long (counted wrong) and I didn’t attach the head correctly.  I assume it was stitch to stitch but you put the head IN the neck quite a ways and then stitch it down. I love the wings though

Then I went on to make a unicorn version

I did test out a fail version where I just made the leg X amount of stitches up the whole way but, my stitch count got wonky in the body so I gave up on doing that. This doesn’t work in a round so you really, really have to watch the stitch count.  It’s nice to make something that takes a day or two and not weeks though.

Plus one of my kids said he liked it, completely randomly, like my oldest did with the alpaca so, I think we have a winner!

I LIKE this sweater!

I finally finished sewing in all the ends for the sleeves but yeah I like this sweater.  I may try more with different variations.

In shop now

Last of the Cotton Cakes

Finally decided to use almost the last of the Cotton Cakes that I had from last year on a poncho.

In my shop now!

I really liked this yarn but it seems like it sold out quickly and they discontinued it.  This one reminds me of the pastel chalks we used as kids on the sidewalk.

First actual custom order!

I’ve had a few people reach out for custom orders, but I actually did my first one the other day.  It was one of my first tries to perfect my alpaca pattern and I had a request to put a flower wreath on it and a graduation cap.  So we went from this:

To this

I also sold the other beige alpaca at the same time.  I gotta admit I like the neutral colored alpacas the  best, but especially the beige, which is the color ‘bone’ and the grey.  It makes the decorations stand out so much more.  I’d like to give my next one a go in the off-white I did one of the other first ones in.

My Yarns

I wanted to get different shelves for my yarn but, I think I’m going to try to not have an actual stash.  Sure it’s fun to have piles and piles of yarn (cough…7 huge skeins I recently bought) but I really need to tie it to an actual product and do something with all the scraps.  I am pulling all the non Simply Soft “4” yarns into a scrap blanket, use other scraps for a hat or something, and probably give away the yarn I won’t use.  I had some yarn given to me in colors undesirable for anything I’d like to do so I may do the reddit yarn exchange/give away to clean up things.

Also, no more pastel baby alpacas.  Natural colors only with pretty decorations!
